I think leah had sad eyes because she didn’t get to mary yaakov or the other way around she didn’t want to mary yaakov or she couldn’t wait to mary yaakov and didn’t want to wait another 7 years.  Or maybe she tought her father was being harsh on him and just wanted him not to work for her at all.  There are many possibilities why leah’s eyes where sad.
